Since December last year we’ve been able to do BOTH hydrocephalus and Friesian Dwarfism testing. These tests are relevant to pure- and part-bred Friesians.

Your horse does not need to be registered for us to test it. Test foals, test part-bred horses, test mares you want to take to a Friesian stallion, it’s really up to you.

Our tests are for the published mutations that cause these two disorders, and are NOT just marker tests. Very few (if any?) other labs can do both these tests, and we are pretty proud that we developed these tests so fast.

We got these tests working because a lot of kind owners submitted samples from horses known to be carriers (or closely related to carriers) so we had great materials to work with. A special shout-out to Candace Brigden for recruiting samples and co-ordinating everyone. Thank-you so much.
